VISIT OF ICGS VISHWAST TO YANGON (10 – 13 FEB 15)
In the spirit of the traditional friendship and cooperation between India and Myanmar, Indian Coast Guard Ship Vishwast (CG 30) will pay a goodwill visit to Myanmar from 10 to 13 Feb 2015. The ship is commanded by Deputy Inspector General Sashi Kumar from the Indian Coast Guard and has a complement of 12 officers and 90 men.
Vishwast which means “Trustworthy” has been indigenously designed and built by Goa Shipyard Limited, India. The ship can operate at sea for over two weeks without any replenishment. The ship has facility for operating Chetak & Dhurv helicopters and is fitted with sophisticated and state of the art equipment like Integrated Bridge System (IBS), Integrated Machinery Control System (IMCS), Integrated Power Management System (IPMS), high power external firefighting system (ABS Fi-Fi Class 1) and pollution response equipment. The sustenance capacity coupled with the equipment fitted on the ship provides ICGS Vishwast good capability for undertaking the responsible tasks of Maritime Security and Pollution Control.
During the stay in Myanmar the Commanding Officer and crew will interact with personnel from the Myanmar Navy, Department of Marine Administration and also call on the Chief Minister of Yangon Region. The ship crew will conduct a Free Medical Camp at Thanlyin District Hospital on 11 Feb 15 from 0900 to 1200hrs. The goodwill visit of Vishwast will further enhance interactions between India and Myanmar and strengthen the close and friendly relations between the two countries.
