Advisory on Travel to India
March 12, 2020
In view of the rapid spread of COVID-19, the Government of India has issued the following instructions:
i. All existing visas issued to nationals of any country, except those issued to Diplomats, Officials, UN / International Organizations, Employment and Project visas, stand suspended till 15 April 2020. This will come into effect from 1200 GMT on 13 March 2020 at the port of departure of any foreigner for onward journey to India.
ii. Visa free travel facility granted to OCI card holders is kept in abeyance till 15 April 2020. This will come into effect from 1200 GMT on 13 March 2020 at the port of departure of any foreigner for onward journey to India.
iii. Any foreign national who intends to travel to India for compelling reasons may contact the nearest Indian Mission / Consulate for fresh visa.
iv. All incoming travelers, including Indian nationals, arriving from any destination and having visited China, Italy, Iran, Republic of Korea, France, Spain and Germany on or after 15 February 2020 shall be quarantined for a minimum period of 14 days. This will come into effect from 1200 GMT on 13 March 2020 at the port of departure of such travellers.
v. International traffic through land borders will be restricted to designated Immigration Checkposts with robust screening facilities. Ministry of Home Affairs will separately notify these Checkposts.
vi. Indian nationals presently abroad are advised to avoid non-essential travel as they may be subjected to quarantine for a minimum period of 14 days on their arrival in India.
Note: All foreign nationals and Indian nationals presently residing in Myanmar and intending to travel to India are advised to kindly check the latest travel advisory issued by Bureau of Immigration (BoI), Government of India at web linkhttps://boi.gov.in or contact the Consular Officer (Mobile No. 09254377913) at the Embassy of India for latest information before their planned departure to India.
