16th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention 2021

In view of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the 16th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention 2021 will be held in virtual format on January 9, 2021 from 1000 hrs to 1800 hrs (India Time). PBD Convention is the flagship event of the Government of India and provides an important platform to engage and connect with the overseas Diaspora. The theme of the PBD 2021 is “Contributing to Aatmanirbhar Bharat”.

Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi will address the Inaugural Session  at 1030 hrs (India Time) and President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind will deliver the Valedictory Address at 1700 hrs (India Time) on January 9.

In between, two Plenary Sessions will be held on “Role of Diaspora in Aatmanirbhar Bharat” and “Facing post-Covid Challenges – Scenario in Health, Economy, Social and International Relations”. The prestigious Pravasi Bhartiya Samman Awards will be announced during the session.

In the run up to the main event, a pre-PBD Conference on Youth will be held on January 8, 2021 from 1100 hrs to 1330 hrs (India Time). The Youth PBD Conference is aimed at deepening the Government's engagement with the rapidly growing population of Youth Diaspora – Children of NRIs, and, 1st to 5th generation PIOs – who have have created a mark in various walks of life such as academics, sports, entertainment, social service, medicine, business, IT and even politics. The Conference will provide a platform for engaging these eminent diaspora youth with India's accomplished youth, on a similar wavelength and for discussing and exploring ideas to work in different areas that will help create an immense and potent present and future power of India overseas.
