Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Department of Commerce, Government of India has notified amendment in the Import Policy of beans of the species Vigna Mongo Hepper or Vigna radiata on May 4, 2018 thereby amending import policy of Items of Chapter 7 of the ITC (HS) 2017, Schedule I (Import Policy). Accordingly, import of Urad and Moong shall be subjected to an annual quota of 3 lakh MTs (1.5 Lakh MTs each for the financial year 2018-19). These imports are subject to procedures which have been notified vide Trade Notice No. 6/2018-19 dated 11 May, 2018.
· As per the modalities (copy attached), the intending millers/refiners of pulses must apply online to DGFT for import
· The applications must be made between 12-25, May 2018 (tll 6 PM).
· The importers will have to complete all imports by August 31, 2018. The attached Trade Notice may be referred for further details.
2. As per this Trade Notice, import of 1.5 lakh MTs for Urad, 1.5 Lakh MTs for Moong and 2 Lakh MTs for pigeon beans (Toor Dal) has been notified for the financial year 2018-19.
3. Embassy of India recommends intending exporters to immediately request their importers to apply to DGFT as specified in the Trade Notice.
