PRESS RELEASE-IT Training Programme for Young Myanmar-January 2014

IT Training Programme for Young Myanmar

The Government of India is supporting an IT Training Programme for 100 Young Myanmar Entrepreneurs at the Infosys Global Education Centre, Mysore, India as part of the Myanmar President U Thein Sein’s Initiative to develop human resource and entrepreneurship in Myanmar on Information Technology together with Infosys and UNESCAP. Infosys is a global leader in consulting, technology and outsourcing solutions in Information Technology.

The Training will be in three phases. The first batch of 25 Trainees is scheduled to depart for India on Tuesday the 4th of February for the course commencing on 6thFebruary 2014. The 12 week training programme is co-sponsored by the Infosys, UNESCAP andGovernment of India.

Ambassador of India to Myanmar, H.E. Gautam Mukhopadhaya interacted with the 25 Myanmar participants prior to the departure. He said this endeavor is part of India’s continued commitment for development cooperation and human resource development in Myanmar which encompasses major connectivity projects and several capacity building initiatives, entailing a financial commitment on the part of Government of India of US$ 1.5 billion in direct project aid and soft line of credits. India has already set up a IT Training Centre- India-Myanmar Centre for Enhancement of IT Skills in Yangon and is at the advanced stage of setting up a Myanmar Institute of Information Technology in Mandalay which is scheduled to commence during the coming academic year. He said that participants would gain valuable knowledge and experience during their 12 week programme, which he hoped would constitute the nucleus of new generation of IT entrepreneurs in Myanmar and contribute to the development and growth of Myanmar especially in the IT sector. Ambassador also wished them success.
