Post Graduate Diploma in Software Development (PGDSD) Programme – MIIT

         The Embassy of India at Yangon, is pleased to announce the commencement of the second phase of the Post Graduate Diploma in Software Development (PGDSD) from today the 10th December 2014. Classes will be conducted at the University of Computer Sciences Mandalay (UCSM) which has been designated as the temporary campus of Myanmar Institute of Information Technology (MIIT) being set up with the Technical and Financial assistance from the government of India. Civil construction work of the permanent facility of MIIT is on schedule and is being carried out In Mandalay.

         MIIT is a National Centre of Excellence and will impart education and conduct research in the areas of Information Technology and enhance human resource pool of Myanmar to meet the future challenges of development. The Institute is being established under a MOU entered into between the two Governments. IIIT Bangalore has been appointed as the mentor Institute for MIIT.

         The first batch of 30 participants for the MIIT – PGDSD programme was selected through a joint online entrance examination conducted by the Myanmar Ministry of Science and Technology and IIIT Bangalore. First six months of the programme was conducted at IIIT Bangalore, India from May to October 2014. During their stay, the participants were taught an industry tested curriculum by highly rated faculty to enable students obtain software development employment in the world’s leading Companies. They also had the opportunity to visit Bodh Gaya, New Delhi, Agra and Mysore, and experienced the rich cultural and religious diversity of India. They noted the rapid strides made by India in economic development.

         The second phase of PGDSD involves project work to be undertaken by the participants and will include planned workshops on special topics, project meetings, presentations, under the supervision of Professor Dr. K.R.V Subramanian, Professor S.V Subrahmanya and Mr. Rahul Kumar Choubey faculty members from IIIT Bangalore  along with faculty of UCS Mandalay. A graduation ceremony on completion of the Programme will be held in March 2015.
